Lanshou w/ Tom Bailor

Lanshou is rare system with roots in Northern Shaolin.  It is predominately practiced in coastal cities of Tianjin and Shanghai and was developed during the Qing Dynasty where it has been established for over 300 years. From a 1989 interview, Master Gorge Xu described the system ” … like lightning. The fist is like a meteor and the eyes are crisp like electricity, the waist moves like an angry dragon, the legs are like drills anchored firmly into the ground.  The action is very swift and clear.  There is a saying that a thunderbolt rising from the palm surprises ghosts and gods.”

Tom Bailor, a senior student of Master Xu, will introduce Lanshou basics, sections of the first form — “Chao Chuan” — as well as two person training exercises.  Tom has been training with Master Xu since 1994 and has had the opportunity to study with Shanghai Lanshou Grandmasters and practitioners in China and the U.S.
